Kane County Judge Clint Hull accepted the plea and set Gordon’s next court appearance for April 29 for motions and sentencing.

In court, Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Greg Sams said that Timothy Gordon and Yajaira Gordon were married but that Yajaira had recently filed for divorce, according to the release. The two continued living in the same house in the 1300 block of Oak Ridge Lane in Montgomery, with Timothy Gordon living in the basement and Yajaira Gordon and members of her family living on the second floor, the release stated.

On Oct. 31, 2022, Timothy Gordon became angry after learning that Yajaira was possibly seeking a court order to remove him from the home, according to the release. Around noon, he returned to the house and went upstairs into a room where Yajaira was seated at a computer desk, officials said. Her mother and aunt, along with two young children, were also in the room, according to the release.

Timothy Gordon confronted Yajaira, asking her why she was doing this to him, saying he had nowhere to live, according to the release. Yajaira replied “stop coming up here” and he shot her in the head at close range, killing her, officials said in the release.

Timothy Gordon then drove away, and was arrested a few hours later in Hinsdale with a handgun next to him in the vehicle, according to the release.

He remains in custody at the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $3 million bail.
