The Mexican Organization of Elgin is holding a free Feast of the Three Kings celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin

Activities will include a chance to take photos with the Three Kings, soties, crafts and sharing a traditional rosca, which is a special sweet bread made for the holiday, according to a library news release.

Township offering free fitness center access, classes

Dundee Township Park District’s two recreation centers are open for free use and group exercise classes are being offered without cost through Sunday, Jan. 7.

The facilities are also running membership promotions through Sunday, according to the park district’s Facebook page. The Rakow Center is located at 665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville, and the Randall Oaks Recreation Center is at 500 N. Randall Road, West Dundee.

Side Street Studio seeking submissions for art show

Side Street Studio Arts in downtown Elgin is accepting submissions through Sunday, Jan. 14, for its February art show, “Monochrome: PURPLE.”

Submission fee is $5 per piece, and artwork should include various shades of purple, visually or thematically.

Pieces should be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin. The public exhibition will be on display from Feb. 2 to 25.

Old Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling at the Dundee Township Road District building in Sleepy Hollow, giving residents an option to leaving them at the curb for trash pickup.

Old Christmas trees being recycled at township office

Dundee Township residents can drop off real Christmas trees for recycling through Monday, Jan. 15, outside the road district building, 1900 Sleepy Hollow Road, Sleepy Hollow.

The drop-off is for people with one or two trees and not open to businesses with many trees, according to road district officials. All decorations must be removed.
